ClientS: Office of the Texas Governor & Texas A&M University System
Role(S): Brand development, social media management, disaster recovery Social Media communications
Natural Disaster
In 2017, Hurricane Harvey hit Texas and Louisiana, causing major flooding and several casualties.
Governor Abbott tapped Chancellor Sharp of the A&M System to spearhead the Rebuild Texas Today Commission since the A&M System has been an example of state and national disaster relief.
Tactics
BRANDING
I stepped up to clean up the concept for the Commission's branding. Within a couple of days, I created the brand and style guidelines for several Texas agencies and affiliated organizations to use, as well as the Office of the Governor of Texas.
SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media presence was important for time-sensitive relief and recovery efforts. I set up a Facebook page, Twitter account, and a Google My Business page for the communication requirements.
The content strategy included deadlines for disaster recovery funds, updates of the Commission's progress, curated content from trusted sources as well as sharing the good news about disaster recovery where possible.
