Role(s): Research Vendors/Solutions, Strategist, On-Camera Coach, CRM Layout Builder, CRM Trainer, Graphic Designer, Copywriter
Situation
The coronavirus pandemic halted all in-person recruitment efforts. Enrollment goals were still the same. RELLIS needed help to convert to an online solution.
solution
I had already been researching online recruitment solutions in 2019 for RELLIS since there were only two recruiters and a lot of territories to cover. Providing LIVE information sessions was a solution I was trying to implement, but they had no additional funds for an out-of-box solution.
Emergency funds were available in light of the pandemic, and I got to work with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to find a solid solution.
We chose PlatformQ, and we worked on a system contract available to our 11 universities and RELLIS.
I also provided practice sessions with RELLIS recruiters to find ways to discover and refine their online-on-camera personalities.
tactics/Deliverables
- Built UX/UI for RELLIS on PlatformQ
- Scripted flow for initial online sessions
- Built onscreen visual references that follow the speaker's presentation
- Trained PlatformQ users
- Crafted plans for email campaigns that were built by PlatformQ
- Enabled text message service for added reach and open
- Coded chat boxes on the website for certain campaigns
- Managed the initial programs for the solution until the RELLIS team was comfortable proceeding on their own
- Coach on-camera talent and provided a checklist of best practices for the recruiters
results
- We delivered over 30 live and simu-live events through PlatformQ in Summer 2020 covering virtual tours, degree offerings, and how to apply for admissions
- PlatformQ became the solution for New Student Orientation
- Website chat function is now a staple component of their lead generation strategy
observations
I am not a fan of using pre-recorded content for a 'LIVE' event. Even though it is publicized as simu-live with a live chat, it still has the bait-n-switch feeling. I see pre-recorded content as an opportunity for interested audiences at the beginning of their search journey. However, publicized online events in my opinion have the expectation to be fully LIVE.
